Frequently asked questions

What is Ryzlo?

Ryzlo is an iOS app for building attention back, on your own terms. It combines session-based app and website blocking with a library of habit modes and a long-term identity system, so staying focused becomes something you build rather than something you white-knuckle through.

How does the blocking actually work?

Ryzlo uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks to enforce blocks at the system level once you start a session or a scheduled block goes into effect. It can also step in with CBT-style resistance prompts in the moment an urge to check a blocked app shows up, rather than just presenting a locked screen.

What are Habit Modes?

Habit Modes are ready-made routines — things like a quick focus sprint, an offline evening, or a recovery walk — spanning categories like productivity, wellbeing, the body, and everyday life. Each one bundles the blocking rules and duration that fit that specific moment, so you're not configuring settings from scratch every time.

What's the identity journey?

Instead of a single streak counter, Ryzlo tracks your consistency through a sequence of stages that reflect how your relationship with focus has grown over time — along with the everyday mechanics that come with sticking to something: streaks, shields that protect a streak on an off day, weekly reports, and an optional leaderboard if you want to compare progress with people you know.

Does Ryzlo work in my browser, or just on my phone?

Ryzlo is built for iOS first. Browser pairing is planned so the same rules you set on your phone can extend to your browser — it's not available yet, and we'll update this page and the app itself when it ships.

What devices and iOS version does Ryzlo need?

Ryzlo requires iOS 17 or later, since it relies on the current Screen Time and Family Controls APIs to enforce blocking. It also supports widgets and Live Activities on the Lock Screen so you can see an active session without opening the app.

Is Ryzlo free, or subscription-based?

Some features will require a subscription; pricing and exactly which features are included will be shown in the App and on the App Store listing before you're asked to pay for anything. Nothing is charged without you seeing the price first.

When can I download Ryzlo?

Ryzlo will be available on the App Store soon.

Is my data private?

Ryzlo is built around not watching you — it doesn't see the content of what it blocks, only whether an app or site is permitted to open. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

How do I get help or report a bug?

Use the "Get in touch" button on the Ryzlo website — it opens a short form that comes straight to the team. Bug reports, questions, and feedback are all welcome there.
